Canal de História is the only thematic channel dedicated to the history of television in Spain and Portugal. The Chello Multicanal produces and distributes Canal de Historia in Spain and Portugal through its agreement with A&E, creator of the History Channel, which is present in 130 countries and reaches over 230 million subscribers worldwide. Canal de História comes to the history of Portugal and Spain documentaries through its own production and also issues on the global overproduction most important historical events. In Portugal, the channel is simulcast with the programming in Spanish with the same name for both countries, Canal de História, where the lineup of original orbital differs from the U.S., also having its own productions to the Iberian Peninsula. Virtually all Portuguese operators have in their basic packages included the History Channel and is also available at 3G operators to broadcast mobile phone via the UMTS network. The channel is a Luso-Spanish version of History and arrived in 1996 with the signing of an agreement between the company Luso-Spanish Chello Multicanal (representing the European enterprise, Chellomedia, a subsidiary of Liberty Global) and AETN.
